If you're in Denver, looking for a great bite and some brews, would definitely send you to Highland Tavern. We are striving to bring you a beautiful old Tavern feel. We stayed quite a while, enjoying our food and the company of the bartenders and the patrons. Established in 2022, the Highlands Tavern is nestled in the quaint, historic Highlands NC. One guest was having a Bloody Mary with Makers Mark instead of vodka (not so sure about this). They also make their own Bloody Mary mix (with Clamato, so I couldn't try) and Cucumber, Jalepeno infused Vodka. All of their food looked pretty damn tasty for a bar. Jason had a pulled pork and grits dish that was quite yummy. I had a burger later on (and more tots since they said that their fries are one of the few things that they don't make from scratch). The tots were wonderful (better with ranch than blue cheese). Ordered some of their famous tater tots and a couple of beers (nice selection of local - since it was before 11 am, I tried an apricot beer which was quite tasty). The place was already filling up with football fans and TVs set on four different games to watch. If you include LoHi, which starts along Tejon Street south of 32nd, you can add Linger, Ale House at Amato's, LoLa and Vita to the jaunt.After seeing them featured in Diners Driveins and Dives, we decided to check out their famous tator tots on a Sunday for lunch/brunch, arriving before 11 am.
